Season of Hope

This is the first week of December which means a new featured stamp set. This is also the first week of Advent. Each weekly card tutorial this month represents the Advent theme of the week. This week features hope.

What are you hoping for as we celebrate this season of hope and count down to Christmas and the end of 2022? What hopes are in your heart?

The celebration of Advent celebrates the hope waiting for the birth of Jesus. Now we hope for his return.

I also found myself with other hopes this week. I hoped this year would be different from last year. This was bowling try-outs week for our high school and last year it began what turned into six months of brain/shunt surgeries and hospitalizations for our son. Bowling try-outs were filled with headaches and lots of frustration. His first brain surgery was the very next week and ended up starting a series that took him through five surgeries in six months. My hope is for a fresh, new start–not for history to repeat itself.

My son’s hope was to have a good try-out and make the bowling team.

I’m thrilled to report he got through try-outs with no headaches, made the team, and this is at least starting out differently than a year ago.

What is your hope?

Red Christmas card with patterned paper on front featuring red and green strings of lights and stars backed by gold glimmer paper. Bottom of card front has sentiment label with gold shimmer ribbon lace through and red, green, and gold pearls. Sentiment says, "Wishing you a season of hope & light."

Card Details

This card was created featuring the products from the Lights Aglow Suite. I wanted some gold glimmer peeking out from behind the patterned paper, but I didn’t want to hide an entire piece. So, I used a trick. Cut smaller strips of the glimmer paper and glue them on the back of the patterned paper before attaching the entire thing to the card front. That way you still get the glimmer paper added to your card, but also have a lot more to use on future projects.

If you want a frame around all four sides of your patterned paper, you can always cut out the center of the glimmer paper since you won’t see it behind the patterned paper anyway.

Inside of card with red strings of light and green strings of stars. Sentiment says "Merry Christmas."

Both the Glimmer Paper and Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper are already sold out and retired. If you wanted to create a similar look to that patterned paper, you could always stamp the strings of lights and stars yourself using the Christmas Lights stamp set.

Whatever comes your way this season, remember it is a season of hope.
