Old Truck with Curves

Is there a vehicle that brings back memories? When my son told us the car he wanted was actually an old truck, I thought that was pretty cool. To be specific, an old truck with curves–which meant 1950s or before. The truck we found has beautiful curves and makes most everyone stare or take a double look.

What has been the most amazing phenomenon with this truck is something I did not expect. Seeing this truck brings out memories and stories from friends and strangers alike. Do I personally have memories of a 1947 Ford? Not, from my childhood, but I do now from this particular truck.

Why are car shows so popular? I think this is one of the reasons. It’s not that you’re looking for a car you want to own. You might see a vehicle that brings up memories from your past and those at the car show are a willing audience to hear and share and appreciate your stories.

Card Details

Do you have something special from your real life that you’d like to represent on a card? I’d like to turn your crafting stress into success. Here are a few tips for creating the vintage look.

Find a stamp that closely represents the item you want to feature on your card.

Two-step stamping is perfect for getting crisp outlines and yet being able to use the perfect color to fill in your image.

Find a background paper that gives a rustic feel and doesn’t distract from your focal image. If you don’t have a pattern you like, you can create a vintage feel with cardstock by crinkling it up and then smoothing back out for a background paper with texture. Or do some paper tearing of the edges. Or try curling the corners a bit or roughing up the edges of the paper with an emery board.

To add rust spots, choose a rust colored ink or alcohol marker and blend in the areas that have rust spots.

I asked my husband where to add rust blooms and his answer was “everywhere.” Then he brought me this picture.

What do you think? Did my card get anywhere close?
