Shades of Green

March has lots of things to celebrate. St. Patrick’s Day is coming next week. Lent has begun and we are in the countdown toward Easter. The first day of Spring is also next week. So, how to celebrate all these things simultaneously? Create something using shades of green.

What do you celebrate using something green in March?

St. Patrick’s Day is the big one around here. Wear green, eat something green, maybe drink something green. It’s all green all day! 🙂 Or orange if you’re my husband.

Both spring and Easter represent life and green is the perfect color for that.

  • Budding trees
  • Flower stems
  • Grass
  • Palm branches

What are some other green things you think of when you think of March?

Green card with lighter green card front. Two rows of palm leaves are stamped across middle. On top of the palm leaves is a cross sitting on a pile of palm leaves. Stamped under rows of leaves it says, "God is love."

Card Details

Want to make a card with multiple colors, but aren’t too sure what colors look good together? I want to help turn your crafting stress into success. Try using several shades of the same color. Or check out the color wheel and use it when choosing colors.

This card uses shades of green with some neutral colors–white, black, and brown (Pecan Pie) thrown in. To add even more variation, use the stamp off technique and stamp your image more than once before re-inking your stamp.

Video Tutorial

After the video, I continued to play and add some extra touches to the card.

  • Stamped and die cut palm branches are added to rows of stamped palm branches to add dimension.
  • Lilies were stamped on white paper then diecut and added to card
  • Antique pearls added the finishing touch
