Fall Harvest

The calendar has turn the page. It is now September. Is it time for fall? I know I’m ready. Technically, fall doesn’t arrive until later this month, but I think the turn of the calendar to September means it’s time to welcome fall. There are Fall Harvest festivals happening this weekend. Labor Day weekend is upon us, which is considered the unofficial end of summer and welcome fall.

It certainly doesn’t feel like fall around here. I just heard on the news today that August 2026 is the first month on record where it has been a high of 90 degrees or above every single day of the month for Wichita, Kansas. No wonder I’m ready for fall. I have high hope that there will be at least one day in September with high temperatures under 90 degrees. But, it won’t be this week. Those triple digit temperatures are hanging around at least through the unofficial end of summer.

Hopefully, we can say with confidence it feels like fall soon. But for now, we will imagine fall scenes and create them with paper.

Do you want to add detailed dies to your card, but don’t know how to get glue on those tiny pieces without making a mess? I want to help turn your crafting stress into success. Put adhesive sheets on the back of your paper before running them through your die cutting machine. Then, you just need to remove the backing from your die cut and realize you’ve made a sticker. Just stick it down wherever you want it on your project.

This card is inspired by the SUO Challenge #409. What about that inspiration photo inspired this card? Well, the rich fall colors for one. And, this looks to be an image of a fall farmer’s market. My favorite thing to get at a fall farmer’s market is sweet corn. If you look really closely at the inspiration photo, you will see ears of corn on the table. That was all the inspiration I needed to create a cornfield. Of course the cornfield needed a scarecrow. If there’s a scarecrow, there will probably be crows around. That’s why he’s there in the first place. So, let’s show him doing his job and keeping the corn safe.

The scarecrow is again dressed paperdoll style. I stamped the scarecrow a second time on Designer Series Paper and then cut out the overalls and glued those onto the scarecrow for some fun patterned overalls.
