Advent Joy

It is time to celebrate Advent Joy. In an earlier post this week, I talked about simple joys during this Christmas season. You can check it out here.

But, joy can be elusive. Even during this Christmas season which is supposed to be joyful. Maybe especially during this Christmas season. It’s a wicked spiral. You think you are supposed to be feeling joy. You don’t. So, you beat yourself up and the inability to find joy when the rest of the world seems to have Christmas joy. Joy becomes harder to find and the cycle repeats itself.

STOP!!! When you find yourself in that cycle, just stop! Put away the craziness of your day and all the things you think have to get done this minute and take at least 5 minutes for yourself. Longer if you can. Napping might take more than 5 minutes. 🙂

When you can’t find Advent joy

Take a nap
Take a walk
Slow down
Breathe
Get your favorite hot drink and a blanket
Get a massage
Put on some Christmas carols
Watch a Christmas movie
Read a good book
Curl up by the Christmas tree with the lights on
Talk to God

Any other ideas for finding joy?

Card Details

This joyful card actually holds two reminders to add more joy to your Christmas season. The strip of Designer Series Paper on the left side reminded me of the lines on a score of music. Especially now, that it has been embossed with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder

The patterned paper with the gold sparkling Christmas tree lights is the next reminder. Seeing those gorgeous sparkling lights cut through the darkness is a perfect reminder of the light that came from Heaven to Earth on Christmas and broke through the darkness.
