After the Rain comes the Rainbow

I’ve heard it said the rainbow comes after the rain. And, while that is true scientifically, you must have water for the sun to pass through to cause us to see a rainbow, you not only need rain, but you also need sun.

Many times when people are talking about the rainbow coming after the rain, they are not talking about the literal refraction/reflection that comes after a rainstorm, they are talking about life and beauty coming after the storm.

The beauty of a rainbow as well as the beautiful flowers depicted in this card requires both rain and sun. Life has both times that feel like rain and sun. Times that are dark and depressing. Times you’d rather stay curled up in bed where it is warm and dry than take the chance on whatever is waiting for you outside the door. Time when there is water running down your cheeks as the storm inside you bursts out.

And, there are times when the sun comes out and you are left with nothing but beauty and goodness shining all around. Everything feels fresh and new and it’s easy to forget the storms of life.

In order for the rainbow to come after the rain, both water and sun must be present. So, we should be looking for the sunshine during the rain. Look for what is good before it is easy to see. Look for the sun when it is hard to find. And then, enjoy the freshness and beauty when the rainbow comes. Stay in the moment enjoying the beauty around you and don’t focus on the storm that has passed.
