Birthday Surprise

Do you like getting surprised for your birthday? How about giving a birthday surprise? I have to admit I am definitely more into giving a surprise than getting one.

It’s definitely the most fun when someone is genuinely surprised and didn’t figure it out beforehand.

But, you have to know who you’re surprising! Some people will be honored and thrilled with a surprise party with lots of people. Others would be mortified (which ruins the whole point). Still others would just be more excited about a surprise visit or phone call from you. Know your audience.

Pink card with blue cardstock framing white rectangles. Both front rectangle flaps have green leafy vines and pink hearts stenciled on them. When the card is closed on flap vertically covers the left half of the card and a horizontal flap comes from the right side and tucks into vertical flap. It is tied with a ribbon. You can see part of the card interior peeking out with the sentiment "happy birthday."

Card Details

Do you want to surprise someone who doesn’t like surprises? Maybe try a unique birthday card. That seems a little less threatening. I want to help turn your crafting stress into success.

This card opens up to share a surprise birthday cake inside. All closed up you see the stenciled vines and hearts along with the happy birthday sentiment.

There’s no peeking because the smaller flap comes over from the right side and tucks behind the panels on the front of the card to keep it securely closed.

But, open that flap and you can reveal the surprise on the inside of the card. There is your birthday cake! And if you know someone likes and eats actual cake, you could time it to reveal the surprise of an actual birthday cake.

If I could only use 1 shape on my card, it would be a rectangle. That might seem funny since this is a square card. But, a square is technically a rectangle. A rectangle is a closed four sided figure with four right angles. A square is a closed four sided figure with four equal size sides and four right angles. So, all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.
