Evergreen in Summer?

When I think of evergreen trees, I generally think of winter. I think of the time of year when all the other vegetation has lost it’s leaves and color for the season. But, the evergreen tree will stands wearing its green. Then, at Christmastime we often add even more color, by adoring it with tree jewelry (or ornaments). But, if the tree is EVERgreen that means it still stands tall and green even in the summer.

So, when I saw what I consider summer colors for the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge this week and Old Olive was among those colors, I thought of evergreen trees in the summer.

If you don’t want to celebrate evergreen trees in the summer, you could always change up this design to be a Christmas card. Change the patterned paper to a Christmas pattern and use a different ink for a Christmas sentiment.

What about you? Do you ever celebrate evergreens in the summer? Maybe we should start a new tradition putting summer jewelry on our evergreen trees. 🙂

    1. Thanks Jen. I think that paper is amazing too. I love how we can get the look of alcohol ink designs without the mess.

    1. I think we can celebrate Christmas year round. 🙂 My nativity scenes are up year round and I love celebrating Christmas in July.

  3. There’s a fir tree in a woodland walk around here that has a vine climbing through it. It flowers during the summer and I always think of it as being a summer alternative to Christmas decorations 🙂 Your card is very pretty with that gorgeous paper and the fun sentiment. Thank you for coming to play at CAS Colours and Sketches this week! Vicky x

    1. Thanks Vicky. That tree sounds like a fun part of the woodland walk. The flowering vine absolutely provides the tree with “summer jewelry.”
