Giving Thanks
The calendar has turned and we are now in the month known for focusing on giving thanks. I would be remiss if I didn’t take a minute to talk about giving thanks for all the blessings all around you every day.
I don’t believe turning the calendar to November suddenly makes you more thankful. Nor should it. We should be thankful every day all year. But, if it takes the turn of the calendar to get you thinking about thanks, I’m thankful for that. 🙂 I’m thankful that it seems to be on everyone’s minds this month.
Thankful IN All Things
Are you thankful every day? Are you thankful at all times? Are you thankful in all things? Notice I didn’t say FOR all things? I Thessalonians 5:18 says, “give thanks in all things.” (ESV) I think that means no matter what is going on, there is always something to be thankful for. You can always find the blessing. Always find a reason to be thankful.
Tonight, my joints are aching. That lets me know a change in the weather and quite possibly rain is on the way. I am thankful for the rain heading this way.
Dishes are piled up in my sink. I can focus on the work that needs done or give thanks that there was good food to eat, a safe, warm home to eat in, and running water to get my dishes cleaned up.
The choice is yours. I choose focusing on the blessings and giving thanks IN all circumstances.
Card Details
Did you know that a die cut must be completely covered by the cutting plate in order to cut all the way through? It’s important to double check and make sure your die is completely covered before running it through the machine.
But, it’s also a way to create some fun effects with your dies and give each die multiple uses.
To create the pumpkin window on the front of this card, leave one edge of the pumpkin die uncovered by the cutting plate. That will leave one edge of the pumpkin still attached to the card front layer and let you fold it to create a window.
Opening the pumpkin window reveals a surprise of more pumpkins on the patterned paper.
Blender pens added the color to the stamped pumpkins by drawing the color from the stamped line image into the center of the pumpkin to give it more color overall. Next, blender pens also added the color to the brown stem. This time a palatte of ink was made on the ink pad lid and the blender pen picked up the color there before adding it to the stamped stems.
