Glittery Christmas

What tells you the Christmas season has begun? For me, everything that screams CHRISTMAS IS HERE!!! brings more sparkle and shine. The world just starts to have a glimmer to it. It’s telling me something special is coming! So today we’re making a glittery Christmas card.

What sort of things make the world glittery at Christmastime for you?

  • Light displays
  • Christmas tree ornaments and lights
  • Stars
  • Tinsel
  • Actual glitter
  • Shining wrapping paper
  • Snow

What else can you think of?

Teal Christmas card with strip of darker teal cardstock across center of card. That has a silver heat embossed sentiment that says, "Merry Christmas". Flags are hanging from darker cardstock strip n silver glitter, blue and green DSP, and DSP patterns of trees and leaves and berries. Focal image is a circle of DSP with a deer on it framed with a circle of silver glitter.

Card Details

Do you want to capture that feeling of a glittery Christmas on your cards? I want to help you turn your crafting stress into success. Let’s talk about the ways to add glimmer and shine to your Christmas cards.

This card uses actual silver glimmer paper to add sparkle and shine. It was used for some of the flags coming from the main banner and also as a frame behind the deer image.

Next, heat embossing the sentiment in silver added more glimmer. And, the embellishments you choose to finish your card with can add even more sparkle and shine.

Finally, I added some wink of stella to add a glimmer outline around the deer and on the berries, leaves, and trees in the DSP flags at the bottom of the card.

I chose to use silver glimmer paper for this card because I wanted a bit of silver and glitter going on. There is no silver glimmer paper currently available in the online store. But, there is glimmer paper of lots of other colors and foils available to add glimmer, including silver foil.

It depends on what other colors I am using if I choose gold or silver accents, but I am more prone to reach for silver and blue everytime.
