Growth Journal

Spending more time at home with more time for thinking and just being in my own head space has me asking a few questions. Why do we have baby books, books chronicaling childhood, journals dreaming of our future when we are High School Seniors, wedding memory albums, and then dreaming or memory books just stop? Does that happen for everyone? Does life get so busy as adults that we stop dreaming? or at least writing down our dreams?

Today’s project is my answer to that. I know some people are keeping bullet journals, other journals/diaries, or daily planners. I, personally, have a daily planner that I use to keep all calendar, appointment, meal planning, bugeting, all adulting related items together.

This is my answer to maintaining self-care, dreaming, wishing, inspiration, and planning for the future. I added labels to separate the book into three sections: Inspire, Give Thanks, and Dream.

This journal is small enough to carry with me in my purse or bag or pretty enough to leave laying out in whichever room I happen to be working.

Just looking at it inspires dreaming and opening to the first page reminds me “if I can dream it I can do it.”

Move into the first section to write down whatever inspires you–quotes, poems, color combinations, scripture, architecture, design, fashion, etc. Draw pictures. Doodle, Be inspired.

Move into the second section and give thanks for the blessings all around. There is always, always something to be thankful for. Music is on my list of blessings, so I decorated each page in the “give thanks” section with a stamped music note.

When you move into section three, you begin to dream. Dream of books to read, movies to watch, trips to take, longterm goals, dreams for your house, job, free time, etc. They sky’s the limit. When you are customizing your growth journal, you make it what you need for you. Make sections based on what works for your life. But always remember, “if you dream it, you can do it.”
