Hearts

When you think about hearts what comes to mind?

  • Love
  • Valentine’s Day
  • Candy Conversation Hearts
  • Circulatory System
  • Heart failure
  • A broken heart

Why do you think love is associated with the heart? I did a lot of reading about this and there are some very interesting theories, but here are a few I found most fascinating.

Love and Hearts

  • Your heartbeat actually responds to feeling of love–a racing heart or your heart skips a beat
  • Ancient Romans had a theory that a vein traveled from your heart to the fourth finger of your left hand–the wedding ring finger
  • There is such a thing as broken-heart syndrome where you have the symptoms of having a heart attack, but your arteries are just fine.
  • Broken-heart syndrome is often related to emotional distress.
  • People often talk about something moving from your head to your heart, meaning moving from knowledge ABOUT something to having more of an emotional RELATIONSHIP

Whatever the reason, there are lots of hearts to be found everywhere as we prepare for Valentine’s Day next month. If you prefer to think of hearts as the organ in our body that is pumping blood and part of our circulatory system, you also have a day to celebrate next month. The first Friday in February here in America is National Wear Red Day, a day to focus on Women’s Heart Health. This year, National Wear Red Day is Friday, February 3.

Red card with white front layer with strips of patterned paper with hearts. Three hearts positioned on top of the paper strips. Sentiment says "Love you lots."

Card Details

Today’s card features lots of red hearts and could be used for Valentine’s Day, National Red Heart Day, or just because. You don’t need a special occasion to send a card or express your love.

I chose to use this as a Valentine’s card. But if you want to use it for something different, just don’t put a Valentine sentiment on the inside.

The only stamping on this card is the sentiment. The card design was created using Country Floral Designer Series Paper. Choose your favorite patterns for the three strips on the card front and then fussy cut or punch out hearts to adhere on top with dimensionals. The Country Bouquet Bundle come with a punch that coordinates with the stamp set, but also with images on the patterned paper.
