Layering Masks
Have you ever used layering masks to add different layers of color to your project. It’s basically several stencils meant to work together and as you color with each one, you end up with a multi-layered image with different shades or colors added in just the right places.
Is this a newish papercrafting technique? Or is it just new to me. Regardless, until this week, I had never tried it.
Who would be a perfect recipient for this artistic card. Maybe an art teacher? Maybe someone who has inspired artistry, imagination, creativity for you.
This is National Nurses’ Week and National Teacher Appreciation Week. This card was made as a thank you card and could express appreciation to either a nurse or a teacher (or anyone else).
Card Details
Do you want to add multiple colors to one stamped image, but don’t really like coloring with markers, crayons, or pencils? I want to help turn your crafting stress into success. Layering masks is a quick way to add several colors to one stamped image.
When using layering masks with coordinating stamps, you have a few options.
- You can use the masks first to add different colors and then stamp the line image on top.
- You can stamp first and then add your colors with the layering masks
- You can just use the layering masks to add color and never add the stamped line image.
You could technically use whatever tools you have to add color to the layering masks, but my tool of choice is the blending brush. Make sure you check out the video below to see the layering masks in action.
