Oktoberfest

When I first found out the Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge #285 was Oktoberfest I started thinking. My first thoughts involved either beer steins or pretzels or both. I do not, however, have any stamps or dies with either of those images. When faced with a theme challenge, I always like to google images of that theme and see if they spark any inspiration. What I found were mostly images of beer and pretzels and people wearing lederhosen and dirndl dresses carrying beer steins.

I talked to my husband about this theme challenge and he challenged me to make a card featuring lederhosen. I was inspired and challenged and this is what I came up with.

I used the Suit & Tie Dies to create the collar and placket on the shirt, the suspenders and clasps, and the pockets. The shorts and front flap were fussy cut from cardstock and the stegtrager was created with the tailored label punch and the sentiment was heat embossed with gold embossing power. I added brushed metallic adhesive dots in gold as the buttons on the shirt and lederhosen.

I even created the background of this card to represent the German flag. Probably my proudest moment with this card was when my son looked at it and said, “Is that the German flag?” I hope you enjoy this card and recognized it as lederhosen. My husband thought I definitely met the challenge he issued to create a card featuring lederhosen. I hope you think so too.

  1. This design is incredible! You most certainly know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
