Old and New for Sherlock Day

Since the first time Elizabeth Robertson told me she thought the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch looked like a footprint, I couldn’t stop seeing it that way. And, I’ve been planning to use these footprints on a card ever since, but never found a good time. Well, that time is here. It happens to be Sherlock Day (as in Detective Sherlock Holmes)

I’ve actually had the card mostly designed in my head for awhile now, but I just couldn’t figure out what I was going to use for a magnifying glass. 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog Pre-Order to the rescue. I got my pre-order in the mail this week and when I opened World Map Dies, my magnifying glass dilemma was solved. The magnifying glass is made from the globe stand die with the base snipped off and the solid globe circle die with a smaller layered circle die used to create the magnifying glass frame. The stamps from the Beautiful World stamp set provided the sentiment and swirls and curls.

I am loving the Glade Press and Seal for projects with small parts. I laid out the punches how I wanted them, picked them up with a sheet of Press and Seal, added glue to the backs, and put them back on the card front. Much simpler and less frustrating that trying to fit one piece at a time.

  1. Such a fun card! When I first saw your card I thought footprints…not Christmas card bulb. I am so pleased that you joined us this week at Watercooler Wednesday. Karen – DT

    1. I love the fact that you instantly saw footprints. I love thinking outside the box and using products in a different way than their intended use.
