Shaker Butterfly

We had a taste of spring here in Kansas last week. I hear that sneak peek is about to end within the next 24 hours with all kinds of interesting weather including more snow. So, what better way to celebrate a taste of spring than create a shaker butterfly card.

Butterflies are an amazing sign of spring. I think when I see real live butterflies flitting around the garden, I’ll believe spring/summer is actually here. Of course that will require flowers to bloom and caterpillars to have the chance to cocoon and metamorphize into butterflies.

Soft subtle colors and butterfly images with sparkling sequins is a perfect taste of spring. If you can’t have live butterflies yet, let’s create them with paper.

Purple card with bokeh dot patterned paper on front. Large butterfly die cut in center of card front turned into a shaker card. Stamped details of butterfly on card layer underneath. Shaker elements are blue, purple, and silver sequins. Purple sentiment label at the top of the card says, "So thankful."

Card Details

Blue card with bokeh dot patterned paper on front. Large butterfly die cut in center of card front turned into a shaker card. Stamped details of butterfly on card layer underneath. Shaker elements are blue, purple, and silver sequins. Berry colored sentiment label at to left of card front says "Happy Birthday" in white.

This card was inspired by the January-April 2025 Stampin’ Up!® catalog.

  • Beautiful Bokeh DSP was used as the card front layer
  • A coordinating color cardstock created the card base
  • A butterfly shape was die cut from the card front layer and used as the shaker window.
  • Itty Bitty Bokeh Mix create the shaker elements
  • A sentiment label is added to the top left of the card front.

Changes from the original card

  • Different color cardbase and card front layer
  • Different sentiment used
  • Smaller sentiment label
  • Purple Adhesive-Backed Sequins added to card front.
White inside of card with strip of purple bokeh dot patterned paper across bottom and purple butterfly stamped in top right corner.

You can’t see the inside of the original card from the catalog, but here is the inside of my CASEd card. Check out the matching DSP and the additional purple butterfly.

    1. Thanks Cindy. I think this weekend was pretty awful for you again. I was in Lawrence at the Ms. Wheelchair Kansas event and I think we just saw the very edge of it on Friday. I hear you guys had so much worse.
