spring is coming

It may feel like winter today, but spring is coming! In fact, the first day of spring happens this week. I am definitely ready for it. But I’d like spring to last awhile. Summer can take its own sweet time getting here.

I am ready to see soft, beautiful flowers blooming and butterflies flying through the air. I’m thinking a trip to the Botanical Gardens may be in my future. I know I’m going to need to wait a few more weeks to see spring in full bloom, but I will just keep dreaming and making cards about it while I wait. Tulipfest does open here at Botanica March 27. 🙂

Pink card with layer of patterned paper with pink and purple flowers on front. Rectangle with butterflies flying through blue sky and "Just Because" stamped in pink is on top right of card front. Gold striped ribbon is bordering the bottom of the card with a large pink flower at the bottom right of sentiment label. Varying shades of pink faceted gems are on the card.

Card Details

Nothing says spring like big blooming flowers with butterflies flitting by. One of the easiest ways to create a spring card is to find a pattern of Designer Series Paper and feature that. This card features a pattern of large pink and purple flowers from the Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper as the entire front layer of the card. There is also a flower cut from another piece of that same patterned paper and added using dimensionals to the added sentiment label.

Add ribbon and sparkling embellishments to your card. The patterned paper is the hero of the card and the added elements just increase it’s beauty.

This card was created for Stampin’ Up! Only Challenges 397: CASE the Catalog–Jan-Apr Mini. I chose to CASE the bottom right card in the photo. I CASEd the sketch as well as choosing a Designer Series paper with large flowers. Next, a sentiment was stamped on a smaller rectangle created from a Memories & More card, ribbon was added, and a flower was cut out from the same pattern of paper to add to the bottom of the sentiment rectangle. Which of these cards will you CASE and share with us at SUO Challenge 397? This challenge will be open through Sunday, March 29. Please join us at SUOC397.
