Sweet Sunflowers
Paper Pumpkin kits are my go-to when I’m needing a card fairly quickly. Well, kits in general. If I really need one fast, I’ll make it exactly as designed in the kit. If not, sometimes I add a little of my own inspiration and make an alternative card. The Paper Pumpkin August 2022: Sweet Sunflowers kit has been my favorite so far.
I love sunflowers. I’m naturally drawn to the watercolor, impressionistic art look. And, it doesn’t hurt that it uses my favorite Stampin’ Up! color–Blackberry Bliss.
If you want a card with gorgeous artwork that looks like you’ve spent hours creating, but in reality, it only took a few minutes to put together, go for a kit. Stampin’ Up! has both Paper Pumpkin subscriptions and The Kit Collection.
Paper Pumpkin Subscriptions come straight to your mailbox each month. You will have an idea of what that month’s box will contain, but you don’t get to see it exactly. It’s always a surprise and I think always a good one. You can buy pre-paid subscriptions or a monthly one. You can always skip a month if you don’t think you’ll like it and cancel at any time.
The other option is the Kit Collection. These kits you know exactly what you’re getting and you get to choose a kit you know you’ll love.
Whichever way you choose, I think kits are the way to go.
Card Details
The Paper Pumpkin August 2022: Sweet Sunflowers kit has fully ready pre-printed cards that you add embellishments to and some stamping.
For this card, I wanted to highlight Blackberry Bliss even more, so I cut down the card front of one of the pre-printed kit cards and used it as the top layer on my Blackberry Bliss cardstock base. The gold honeycomb layer was a free gift included in that month’s Paper Pumpkin kit.
I used the stamps from a different Paper Pumpkin kit, March 2023: 10 Years of Growth to give my card a Mother’s Day feel. Sentiments from that stamp set were paired with a label from the Sweet Sunflowers kit and also stamped on the inside of the card.
Embellishments were added to give the card that finishing touch:
- Bee dies from the kit
- Brushed Brass Butterflies
- Iridescent Rhinestones
- Gold & Vanilla 3/8″ Satin Edged Ribbon
One of my favorite things about Stampin’ Up! kits is that they come with envelopes that are already decorated and coordinate with the cards in the kit.
