Timid Tiger

The 2025-2027 Stampin’ Up!® In Colors includes an orange called Timid Tiger. I’m not sure I’ve ever actually seen a timid tiger, but it seemed the perfect color to use for a card featuring a tiger.

What are your experiences with tigers?

I’ve only ever seen them in zoos or in movies or on TV. Anyone else binge watch Tiger King during the pandemic. 🙂 It was like a train wreck–you just couldn’t turn away no matter how bad it was.

The big cats exhibits are one of the places I want to make sure to see when visiting the zoo. But the tigers have been anything but timid. One time, I was riding a red power chair on our zoo trip and noticed as I was riding past the tiger area, that I was being stalked. As I rolled by the enclosed area, there was a tiger walking slowly behind me, stopping when I stopped, and changing direction when I changed direction. I was sure glad there was a glass barricade between us.

Another time at a zoo, a tiger was staring down my husband’s service dog, whose hair began to stand up on his back and he let out a low growl. Which was returned my a tiger’s snarl. As you can imagine, we got out of there in a hurry.

What about you, any tiger stories you’d like to share?

Want to create a card but need some ideas? Try CASEing a card you like. I want to help turn your crafting stress into success. Find a card from a designer you like or on Pinterest, Facebook, or in splitcoaststampers.com or even CASE it from the Stampin’ UP!® catalog like I did.

White card with brown cardstock embossed with plaid embossing folder. Dog and line with heart stamped at top of brown paper and heat embossed in white. Sentiment heat embossed in white.

This card was a CASE of the sample card from the 2025-2026 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. Instead of white and brown, I used black and orange. Instead of a dog and heart from the Along These Lines stamp set, I used the tiger. There are stamps included in the Along These Lines stamp set to extended you line as long as you want. There’s one with a heart in the line and two that are just straight line extensions: one long and one short.

I kept the same embossing folder, cut out around the shape of the stamped image and used heat embossing. This card just uses black instead of white.

This card is entered in the As You Like It Challenge: Favorite Type of Embossing. I love all kinds of embossing and decided to use both dry embossing and heat embossing on this card. But, my favorite will always be heat embossing. It has been my favorite since the very beginning of my card making journey and I can’t imagine another technique taking its place. It is just magic to me when you apply the heat gun and watch the embossing powder melt into a shiny image.

The video doesn’t quite do it justice, but here it is. You really have to see it in person.
