World Autism Acceptance Day
Today, April 2 is World Autism Acceptance Day. Some refer to it as Autism Awareness Day. I choose to celebrate Autism Acceptance Day. And, I choose to do that by celebrating an autistic in my life–my daughter. I am super proud of her and the way she has taken on the transition into adulthood and is crushing it. It’s not easy to grow up and begin to take on grown up responsibilities, but she is handling more adult responsibilities than I did at her age. That is part of the beauty of neurodiversity. Wouldn’t the world be boring if we all thought, behaved, and progressed through life in exactly the same way. When someone looks at life differently than I do, it challenges me to stop and think and find beauty in unexpected places. I think we should all embrace neurodiversity and be excited to see the world through someone else’s point of view.
I chose to make a card celebrating her on National Autism Awareness Day. It is #redinstead and expresses my pride and features gorgeous fine art touches–marble patterned paper from In Good Taste DSP along with fussy cut flowers from Fine Art Floral DSP and Fine Art Ribbon.
