How Do You Add Special Detail to Your Cards?

The printed paper from the Rustic Harvest Suite has such soft beautiful fall harvest images. Using the paper alone makes a gorgeous card.

But, what if you want to add more bling to your card? This suite makes it simple.

Die cut Pumpkin

The dies for the pumpkin are already set up to add extra texture and detail to your card. They emboss each piece as well as cut it out. There are also multiple pieces so the extra layers add interest and dimension without a lot of extra work.

Heat Embossing

Heat embossing always adds that extra special touch. And, anytime you add gold you add bling. Check out yesterday’s post about that very thing: Amp Up the Celebration with Gold.

The Rustic Harvest Suite also makes this easier to accomplish. Included in this Suite is the Embossing Additions Tools Kit. Those tools simplify the whole embossing process. The embossing buddy help prepare the cardstock by decreasing the static electricity. Next, the brush helps easily remove any extra embossing powder that does end up sticking where you don’t want it. And, the craft tweezers help keep you from burning your fingers as you try to use the heat tool to melt the embossing powder. Plus, clean up is a breeze with the tray that keeps all your embossing powder contained in one spot and makes pouring it back in the jar simple.

Heat embossing is my favorite technique. But I love the fact that this tool kit keeps my desk clean (at least from embossing powder).

Decorating the Inside

Another way to make your card extra special is to take the time to decorate the inside. For this card, I just stamped a pumpkin and used the blender pens to draw the ink color up into the pumpkin itself. To see a video of that technique, check out Video: Shades of Purple

There are lots of ways to add detail to your cards. Embossed dies, heat embossing, and decorating the inside of the card are the three I used here. They took the card up a notch and made it extra special.
