Embossing

The challenge for this week’s Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge is your favorite technique. My favorite technique is embossing, so of course that is what I had to showcase.

Heat embossing is probably my absolute favorite if I had to narrow it down to one. I remember heat embossing at the very first class I attended and I was hooked for life. It is magic. You stamp an image add some dull embossing powder, add heat and watch the magic happen as the embossing powder melts and creates an amazing shine.

I have yet to find a technique that inspires me quite as much. I would go as far as to say, when you’re feeling uninspired, just add some heat embossing as watch that spark of creativity return.

Another embossing technique I love is dry embossing. Just add a piece of cardstock to an embossing folder and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and Voila! You have just created the perfect background for your card with the right amount of texture and interest in just the colors you need.

There is also a third type of embossing–using embossing paste with a stencil. This leaves a raised image on your project and the paste can be colored whatever you need for your project using drops of ink refill.

This card was created using different shades of green with touches of gold.

There was also an extra embossed panel added to the front of the card layer with dimensionals to give it that extra dimension. Twine was wrapped around that center panel to help draw attention to it.
