simple easter symbol
What is Easter all about? It is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is reminder each year of God’s great love for us. What is a simple Easter symbol that when looked at can focus our hearts on Easter and it’s meaning? For me, it’s the empty cross.
Yes, the cross was a terrible symbol of torture and execution before Easter. But now, it is a symbol of hope and our salvation.
The cross represents how Jesus shed His blood as a one and done sacrifice for our sins. He was the perfect Lamb of God sacrificed for the sins of the people. He traded His righteousness for our sins on the cross so that we might have the chance to be made right and spend eternity with God.
But, the cross is not the end of the story. If it were, we would have no hope. Our sins might be forgiven, but death is still our future.
But the cross was only the beginning of the Easter story. The real hope of Easter comes because Jesus was resurrected on the third day. He defeated death and we have the chance to experience eternal life in Heaven because of His sacrifice and resurrection. Sin and death do not win.
And, the empty cross is a simple Easter symbol that reminds us of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. It reminds us that He defeated sin and death and when we make Him Lord of our lives, He gives us the power to defeat sin and death too.

Card Details
Do you want to make a creative card but the only supplies you have are stamps, ink, and paper? Never fear! I want to help you turn your crafting stress into success. No matter how limited your supplies, you can still create gorgeous cards.
In fact, I find the more limited my supplies, the more creative my brain becomes.
To create this #simplestamping Easter card, I first created a circle of ink using a blending brush. You can use whatever you have, sponges, extra makeup brush, even a rag or old t-shirt you don’t care about. Then, stamp the cross directly on the ink blended circle. Next, stamp the sentiment at the top of the page. I did finish mine up with some Antique Pearls, but you don’t have to. Use whatever you have or nothing at all.

Don’t forget to decorate the inside. This card lets the world know what we celebrate at Easter — “He is risen.”

Video Tutorial

If you watched the Facebook LIVE of me creating this card, you saw that I had to start over because I dropped the sentiment stamp upside down directly on the front of the card by the cross.
I didn’t want to waste that cardstock. So, I continued to work on it after the video and added some extra elements. You can’t even tell there was an error. That just led to extra creativity. 🙂 You would never know unless you take the card apart. So, if you ever receive a card from me, don’t take it apart looking for the errors. You’ll probably find some. That is why paper has two sides after all. Just flip it over and try again. Or, if you’re creating directly onto the card base, just add an extra layer and cover up your mistake, or just go with it and create something unexpected. Only you will know your original intention.
