In the Wild

Fall is beginning. The men in my life equate this time of year with wildlife Pheasant and deer have been a huge part of my fall for most of my life. I’m more of an indoor kind of girl, but I know the men in my life love to be outdoors in the wild.

I have to say I do enjoy seeing the wildlife at this time of year. But, I prefer to watch them out the window of somewhere while I’m in nice temperature controlled inside with no crazy winds and no annoying bugs.

I am blessed that at my parents house I can stay in the comfortable interior of the house and look outside the window and and see trees, birds, deer, sometimes other animals all while I stay in a climate-controlled interior.

What about you? Do you love to be out in the wild? Or do you prefer to watch it out your window from your comfy couch? Or would you rather not see the “wild” at all?

Tan card with green circle of patterned paper with trees and pheasants. There is a die of a tree with green die cut leaves. In front of the of the tree is a stamped and cut out deer and rocks.

Card Details

As the seasons change, change your cards as well. Do you love or know someone who loves to be in the wild? Make a card that reflects that. Change the colors you use when making your card with the colors that are being reflected outside.

The As You Like It Challenge right now is Layers or Flat. I love using layers. Layers give your card more visual interest, create natural shadowed areas, and add texture as well. For this card, layering pattered paper with die cuts, and stamped and cut out images created a scene that you might see in the wild.

The images are layered on each other creating depth and making your image look more like what you might see in the wild. You don’t normally see trees, rock, animals, etc. all lined up in a row. You might find animals hiding among or behind the trees. The natural world is layered. I like to add that same look to my cards.

    1. Thanks Karren! It was just like a lightbulb went off when I looked at the sketch turned on it’s side. Suddenly I could see the card come together in my mind.
