It will eventually get better

The world has turned upside down this year and although you have hopefully been able to avoid actual physical challenges, we are all experiencing social and emotional challenges that make you feel just like the animals above. At least I know I do. I feel like I have a knot in my neck most of the time and my exhaustion thinking about how to keep successfully living a life that changes every moment leaves me feeling like a turtle flailing on my back and/or like the sloth with no energy to do anything except sigh.

Which animal do you feel the most like? I remember at the beginning of the world shutting down feeling a bit like this would be an interesting break with my introvert tendencies being encouraged. Then, the world started to re-open and I began to feel more like the giraffe. The knot in my neck kept getting bigger and tighter.

As I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to manage all the changes and keep everyone as safe as I can. Most of the time I feel like the turtle just flailing around on my back.

And much of the time right now, I am so mentally exhausted from trying to manage all this, I feel like the sloth. All I can manage some days is to lay around and sigh.

What about you? How are you feeling right now?

I hope things will get better soon. I am sure they will get better. I am sure things will either change for the better or we will adjust to our new notmal. I am sure the day is coming when the knot in my neck will loosen, I will no longer be flipped on my back with legs flailing in the air, and my sloth-like energy will be increased.

I’m sure that day is coming. I just have no idea when that day will be. So, I don’t plan to wait around doing nothing. I plan to live everyday with grace and love, make decisions to keep life running smoothly one day at a time and pivot when necessary.
