Kintsugi Inspiration for Christmas
Have you heard of Kintsugi? It is the Japanese art of taking broken pottery and repairing it by adding lacquer with metallic dust to the cracks to not only make the pottery whole again, but even more beautiful. Stampin’ Up!® has a Suite of products called Kintsugi Inspirations. I thought it would be fun to make a card with kintsugi inspiration for Christmas.
While we’re at it, let’s not just let Kintsugi inspire our cards, what about our gifts, our relationships?
Is something broken in your life?
Don’t just throw it away or deem it irrepairable.
Be inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi. Spend time working with the broken pieces, add that sparkle of something extra. Turn what was broken into what is repaired and even more beautiful than before.
We live in a throw away society. If something is broken, it goes in the trash. Let’s change that and spend our time creating something unique, beautiful, and whole out of what was once broken.

Card Details
Which is your favorite type of embossing? This card uses both heat embossing and dry embossing with the Joined Together 3D Embossing Folder. I love both for different reasons and uses. But, if I have to choose a favorite, I’m going to go with heat embossing.
In fact, heat embossing is probably my favorite papercrafting technique overall. Watching the embossing powder melt into such a gorgeous shine is just magic. Hopefully you can see it happen on the video below.
Maybe the magic of the heat embossing transformation is a bit like the magic of the kintsugi transformation.

Great card! I love the mix of both hot and dry embossing types, it gives such an amazing dimension. Thanks for joining us at FMS for our #700 celebration.
Thank you Cecile. I love the look of both types of embossing
