Making is Good for the Soul
I spent time this year making Christmas gifts for many of those on my list. My biggest lesson learned is that making is good for the soul. Instead of paper craft gifts, I took a moment and stepped outside of my box. These gifts took me into the kitchen for another maker experience.
My time in the kitchen led to quite a mess, but it also led to jars of some really yummy presents. Each new form of creating requires new adaptations to end up with a successful end product.
Adaptations Needed in the Kitchen
For this hot chocolate mix, I held the bowl on my lap as I added the ingredients to the mix. Shaky hands do end up with some powdery substances that don’t quite end up in the bowl. Just so you are prepared, a hand spasm while you’re holding an open canister of cocoa will end up with a covering of cocoa powder all over the kitchen. 🙂 Good news!!! It will all clean up and you will still be left with yummy handmade gifts.
I found the recipe for both the Hot Chocolate Mix and Gingerbread Popcorn at The American Patriette. That is also where I got the lid toppers for the Mason Jars and I added a snowflake stamp. The gingerbread popcorn wasn’t nearly as messy as the hot chocolate mix to create.
