No glue needed: Folded heart boxes
I love papercrafting and have for most of my life. It is so much fun for me to find new and creative projects using the papercrafting tools I have from Stampin’ Up!. I think it is as much fun to create unique, special packaging that will make you smile from the minute you see it as it is to choose the gift itself.
I started looking for something special for Valentine packaging and found this fun origami box with heart on Pinterest. As I practiced the art of paper folding, I was reminded of the origami I created as a child and the amount of fun papercrafting and creating can bring to everyday.
This project requires double-sided paper–one pattern or color will make the outside of the box, the other will be seen on the inside of the box as well as the heart folded on top.
To create this box, you will need a piece of double sided paper cut 10″ x 5″. It will also need scored on the short side at 1 1/4″, 2 1/2″, and 3 3/4″ and on the long side at 2 1/2″, 5″, 7 1/2″.
Pre-scoring made it easier for me to create the necessary folds in the Designer Series Paper. There are other folds you will need to make as the box is created. I would recommend using a bone folder to burnish all these fold as you create your box.
I followed the instructions from Francis Ow on Pinterest to create the folds needed to make this origami heart box.
When the box is finished, you can add a love note or special Valentine to the inside of the box. If you want to keep the heart closed, you will need to add something relatively thin. If you would like to fill the box with something larger, like candy, you can do that as well, but the box will remain open.
I wanted to add a Valentine sentiment and be able to sign the box before giving it away, so I stamped on a 2 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of white cardstock and glued it to the bottom of the box. That was the only adhesive used on this project. You could always add glue as you fold to add extra security to the folded pieces to keep them in place if you want, but I enjoy seeing what can happen just by folding paper.
