Poppies of Remembrance
I just saw an article in the newspaper that at least where I live, May has once again been named poppy month. This is the time of year we collectively make a concerted effort to remember those who have died. But the truth is, if the person who died was within our inner circle, we don’t need a special month or a certain flower to remember them. They pop into our consciousness at all times of the year.
So, while you’re making a concerted effort to honor those who have died during this month of remembrance, know that their loved ones always remember and could maybe use a poppy of remembrance all year, not just in May.
This card just used three color: Poppy Parade, Basic Black, and Basic White. There was a lot of die cutting on this card. Both poppies use three different dies stacked together. From the beginning, I have thought the center piece for the larger poppy die looks like the coronavirus. 🙂 Today was the first time that I realized just how much the center of the smaller poppy die looks like a crown. I’m already planning cards using it as a crown and not the center of a flower.
I think my favorite die in the Poppy Dies set is the one that doesn’t cut out a flower shape, but cuts a bunch of flowers into the paper so you see the background paper shining through. On this card, I used it both on the outside and on the inside layer.
