The First Christmas

When you think about Christmas, what comes to mind? Presents? Lights? Christmas cards? Santa Claus? Christmas carols? I think of all of those things, but I try very hard to keep my focus on the first Christmas.

Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ. It is about recognizing the first time Jesus’ came to Earth.

And, the month of December is a time of Advent–waiting. What are we waiting for? The birth of Jesus.

For me, Christmas is about celebrating Jesus coming to Earth.

Blue Christmas card featuring a star patterned paper, embossed with star embossing folder, and die cut silver stars added. The top star has the sentiment, "All Is Merry & Bright."

Card Details

The front of this card focuses on the stars. Those bright Heavenly lights and the one special star that announced the birth of Jesus and led the way for those to celebrate Him.

I used both the embossing folder and die cuts from the Stars at Night set. And, I embossed directly on O Holy Night Designer Series Paper.

The front of this card represents Christmas lights. Yes, there were lights even on that first Christmas night. The Heavens were celebrating.

When you open the card, you will see a pop-up representation of the nativity. There in the stable are Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus, surrounded by animals and visitors to see the baby.

How do you keep the first Christmas in the front of your celebrations during this month?

Inside of card shows a pop-up nativity with stable, Holy Family, Shepherd, Wiseman, and animals. Sentiment says, "May the peace of the season light your world & may your new year be the brightest."

The As you like it Challenge right now is who is your favorite person to craft for at Christmas and why? I would have to say mine is my mom. Why? She is also a papercrafter so she recognizes and understands the work that goes into making these crafts. She also focuses on the first Christmas during this season and she’s my mom. 🙂

Make sure you head over to PP669 and As You Like It Challenge: Favorite Person to Craft for at Christmas (and why) to see the inspiration cards by the design teams and other creative entries.
