Vintage Santa Scene
There’s been a lot of Christmas talk and even some preparation happening around here. I’m so excited that we are in July where it is socially acceptable to celebrate Christmas in July and not get strange looks or raised eyebrows. Much of the Christmas talk around here has dealt with Santa Claus; A vintage steampunk Santa to be precise. 🙂 So, for this challenge, I decided to create a card with a Vintage Santa scene.
How do you celebrate Christmas year round? or do you? We will not put up our Christmas tree or lights on our house until after Thanksgiving. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t celebrate or prepare for Christmas year round.
How I Celebrate Christmas All Year:
- Nativity scenes are permanently set up
- Thinking about and looking for decorations on out of season sales or at thrift stores and antique shops
- Pull out Christmas music to play at random times throughout the year
- Christmas shop year round
- Create Christmas cards year round
- Dream and plan about new ways to make Christmas even more magical for others
What are some of your ideas?
Do you tend to be more vintage or modern in your Christmas decor?
Card Details
Don’t love to stamp or don’t have the Christmas scene stamps you want? Never fear. I want to help you turn your crafting stress into success. Use paper to create your Christmas scene. This card was made entirely with paper and dies. The only stamping is the sentiment, and you could write something or print it out on the computer if you prefer.
The Traditions of St. Nick Designer Series paper is still available in the Online Exclusives section of the Stampin’ Up!® store. I used it last Christmas and love it so I quickly bought another package to use this Christmas. And, the coordinating Saint Nicholas dies are currently available in the Clearance Rack. The stamps are no longer available, but there are dies that cut out the Santa Claus images from the paper and many stand alone detail scene building dies.
The fireplace on this card is created entirely from dies, including the stockings. Those same dies could be used to create a chimney for a rooftop scene with Santa Claus. There are even dies to create the perfect size layer of snow for the chimney.
The cup and cookies on the mantle were fussy cut from the Designer Series Paper.
Both the Saint Nicholas dies and Traditions of St. Nick Designer Series Paper are “as long as supplies last.” So, when they’re gone, they’re gone.
If you’d like to use either one of those to create your Santa Claus scenes, maybe they would be a great Christmas in July gift for yourself.

Ahh now that’s clever making a Christmas card for “Party Fun” as lets be honest its the bestest and most magical time of the year. Thanks for playing along with us at Just Add Ink cards this week with your jolly card.
I’m glad you agree that Christmas is the ultimate party. 🙂
I love the excuse of Christmas in July to make festive cards too, though I’m not as dedicated as you obviously are! Thanks for sharing your vintage Santa card with us at Just Add Ink this week.
I don’t know if I would call it dedicated or just a lover of all things Christmas! Thanks Kerry
This is such a great card design, Angel. I love how you mixed all of the die-cuts and DSP together.
Thanks Cindy. I had a great time putting it all together
