When Your Body Betrays You
Does this ever happen to you? You wake up and have a creative idea you would like to go create. But then, your body betrays you. Maybe you can’t even get out of bed. Or, like me this morning, you go excited to work on a project and suddenly your arm can’t lift the tools you were planning to use or reach high enough to get something off the shelf.
Now What?
Now what? Do you cry? Throw a fit? Engage in some negative self talk telling yourself you’re worthless? Maybe sometimes for a little while.
Then, you can figure out what your body needs and do that. Do you just need more sleep or rest for your muscles and bones? Do that. Do you need to call your doctor? Do that. Do you need to make adjustments to your plan and create in a way your body will let you? Do that.
I made this card the #simplestamping way. But more than that, I made it in a way that was simple for me.
Setting Yourself Up for Success
I only used products that were at desk level and didn’t require any lifting, reaching, or stretching. I know you may not have a specific area set aside for only your crafting. But, you do have a place where you store your crafting supplies. Whether this is in a closet, drawer, etc. I have some recommendations for storing things to help you craft on those days your body betrays you.
Put a stash of the things you use most often on the shelf or table or drawer etc. that is waist high. You can put them in a bag or box, but there may be days you can only pick them up one at a time.
List of Must Have Items for Card Making
*white paper
*stamps
*black ink
*adhesive (glue or tape)
*something to clean your stamps –I use the Shammy or Scrub & Mist. You could use alcohol free baby wipes or a wet paper towel
*something to cut paper–trimmer and/or scissors
*stamp block (or stamparatus)
Simple Birthday Card
I used one single piece of white paper with mostly one single stamp set. I did use a second one to find the Happy Birthday sentiment for the inside of the card. I do keep all my ink colors on my desk, so I was able to easily create a rainbow garden of flowers. Finally, my embellishment box was still down on my desk, so I could easily reach the butterfly embellishments.
Maybe that’s my excuse for a messy desk. I need to keep everything within arms reach. What do you think? Will that work to keep me out of trouble or needing to clean?
When your body betrays you, there are ways to take care of yourself and still be creative.
