Christmas in July

Christmas in July. It is celebrated more and more. I used to not even want to think about Christmas this early. I was thinking Christmas was getting far too commercialized and that part of things was starting earlier and earlier each year.

This year, I’m having a different train of thought about Christmas in July. This week, we are forecast to have temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit every day. I am absolutely melting and don’t feel like doing much of anything except sit like a melted puddle in front of a fan.

This is where Christmas in July comes in. While the weather outside is frightful–frightfully hot that is–inside I’m thinking about Christmas and playing with paper snowflakes. I think there is something real about thinking of a colder time of year and snow helps me feel not quite so hot right now.

So, maybe there is something to this whole Christmas in July celebration.

Blue card with snowflakes and jewels scattered diagonally across the card. "Let's Celebrate" is heat embossed in silver with loops of silver thread under sentiment rectangle.

Representations of Snow

This card has several different representations of falling snow. The Wonderful Snowflake centerpiece is iridescent foil and is surrounded by snowflakes cut from Snowflake Specialty Vellum. The are also jewels of pearls, iridescent rhinetones, and opal rounds to represent falling snow.

The silver touches of the heat embossed sentiment and loops of silver thread just add to the sparkle and magic.

I think I’ve decided Christmas in July is worth keeping around. I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to have handmade Christmas cards ready to send friends and family, I probably need to start getting them ready right about now.
