You Only Need the Basics
Sweltering weather
Unbearable heat
Rising barometric pressure
Those are some of the things that leave me feeling like a wilted flower. It’s hard to come up with creativity when it feels like my brain is melting. But I’ve learned that paring back to the basics can still leave you with a gorgeous creation.
I didn’t have the energy to pull out more than the very basic materials:
- Stamps
- Ink
- Paper
- Paper Trimmer or Scissors
But here’s the truth–All you need to express yourself creatively is the basics. I’m a papercrafter, so the above list is my list of basics. Pull out those basics and start expressing yourself. Learn to depend on the most basic creative tool of all–your brain.
#simplestamping
This is another example of a #simplestamping card. It was created using only the basics plus some ribbon to add that touch of something extra special.
This card uses both two-step stamping and masking.
- First stamp the front plant outline
- Then, stamp another plant image on a separate piece of paper and cut it out to lay over the stamped image to create a mask.
- Next, stamp the eucalyptus stems outline to create a bundle of plants.
Finally, it is time to add color to the plant images by repeating the above steps.
When I was getting ready to create this post, I realized I am drawn to the Splendid Thoughts stamp set every time I am melting from the heat. Do you have a specific stamp set you are drawn to when you feel like your creativity has melted away?
