Fishers of Men

I don’t know about you but when I look at the products in the By the Bay Suite, Easter is not the first thing on my mind. But somehow, the more I looked at them, the more I thought about Jesus and his call that we are to be fishers of men.

Easter is about Jesus and as I’ve been studying more about the three years of His ministry while He walked on this Earth, I learn more and more about connections to the sea. Right now, I am reading a book and going through an Online Bible Study by Max Lucado: In the Footsteps of the Savior. The truth about Jesus’ ministry accompanied by photos and images of the geographical territory where he lived, highlights the importance of the sea, more specifically, the Sea of Galilee.

Sea of Galilee

  • Site of much of Jesus’ teaching both on the shore and from a boat set out a little way into the sea
  • Where some of the disciples were called
  • Jesus walked on the waters
  • Jesus calmed the sea
  • Location of Sermon on the Mount
  • Location of the feeding of the 4000 and feeding of the 5000
  • After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples on the shores of the Sea of Galilee and had a breakfast of fish with them.

And now, I’ve gone from not even considering By the Bay as Easter products, to thinking of course they are perfect for Easter. It was on a by the sea where Jesus taught his disciples to become fishers of men.

Blue card with wave patterned paper on front and two circles of patterned paper --one with a school of gold fish and one with various shells. Sentiment label says, "The greatest gift of Easter is . . ."

Card Details

Today’s card was created for the As You See It Challenge. The challenge was to create a card with an outdoor theme in 10 minutes or less. That was definitely a challenge, but I finished this on in 9 minutes 58 seconds. I had thought about adding some ribbon under the fussy cut shell, but ran out of time.

White inside of card sentiments says, "He Lives!" with stamped scripture, "He is not here. He is Risen." Matthew 28:6

To be completely honest, I did not get the inside of my card finished within the 10 minutes. But, that only took a few seconds longer and I don’t think that was part of the challenge. 🙂

  1. Angel DSP is definitely your friend when it comes to a speed challenge and you’ve highlighted the By The Bay papers beautifully. I also thought the piece with the gold fishes would make a great religious card, so it’s nice to see your take too. Thanks for playing along with us over at As You See It this week!

  2. What a very thoughtful card! The time limit is a challenge, but I find it very worthwhile. Thank you so much for joining in with us at As You See It.

  3. Just beautiful, Angel, and I love your inspiration! These papers are so gorgeous, and I’m thrilled you got that sheet with the gold school on it in there, lol. Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!

  4. Now that you mention it, Angel, I see a lot of parallels in this DSP – the wild waves that need to be calmed, the teeming fish that Jesus miraculously had the disciples catch, and just creation itself! Great job on the speed stamping and Happy Easter to you! Thanks for stamping on the edge with As You See It!
