Giving Tuesday
It seems that this week many of the days have had special names, Black Friday, Cyber Monday. Well, we are now at my favorite–Giving Tuesday. Most of the past week has been focused on money and material things, so it’s natural that our brains would lean that direction when thinking about Giving Tuesday as well. What organization, charity, ministry, etc. are you going to give money to today?
While it is good to give our financial and material resources and we should research where to give those and then share the wealth, what if we looked beyond the monetary and spent the day giving in little ways all day.
What if we gave a smile to everyone we see? or gave a helping hand to those who need one? What if we give by opening a door or pulling out a chair for someone? What are some other ways to give?
- A listening ear
- A shoulder to cry on
- A freshly baked treat
- A welcome to the neighborhood
- A wave
- An invitation to just come and sit and maybe enjoy a cup of coffee (or hot chocolate)
- Raking leaves or shoveling snow or mowing grass
- Kindness
- Patience
- Doing someone’s chore for them
- Creating something to give away
What if we gave ourselves by not building walls around our hearts? What if we let others really see who we are and in return we give love?
