Are you Ready for Back to School?

Believe it or not we are smack dab in the middle of August. The long, lazy days of summer are coming to an end. School starts here this week. When does it start where you live? Are you ready for back to school?

I have to admit, I loved school. I don’t think there was ever a year I wasn’t ready for the school year to begin. Yeah, I was one of THOSE kids. 🙂

Shopping for new school supplies was always a highlight of this time of year. But, what if you can’t find anything you really like or that fits your vibe? Create it yourself

My earlier posts show you can personalize notebooks to fit your needs. But what about the pens, pencils, markers you use to write in those notebooks? Create a personalized pencil holder for yourself.

Project Details

Choose your favorite patterned paper and then pick a couple of cardstock colors that coordinate. Use one color to create the case itself and the paper latch that holds it closed. You could also add ribbon to tie it closed or even small magnets.

While you’re decorating the front, add a piece of patterned paper. I got my pre-order from the September-December 2023 Stampin’ Up! catalog yesterday, so of course I had to choose a pattern from there. These book prints were so perfect from the All About Autumn DSP pack.

Next, choose a second coordinating cardstock color that you will use to cut out diecut letters so you can personalize the front with your name. Pockets are create inside the case with the same color cardstock and decorated with more patterned paper.

When attaching your pockets, make sure you turn the sides under about 1/2″ and and add glue to those flaps. This will give room in your pockets for the writing utensils.
