Life Is Hard
Do you ever want to step back into a simpler time? Do you ever feel like things are just HARD right now? Being an adult is HARD. Being a wife is HARD. Being a parent is HARD. Being a responsible citizen, good neighbor, or good friend is HARD. Is it just me or does the world feel like it is going CRAZY? I’ve given up expecting any bit of normalcy right now. What I’ve learned is that life throws you the unexpected more often than not. Life is HARD.
Does that ever make you wish you could just turn the clock backwards and find a time in your life things weren’t so HARD?
My Simpler Time
I was doing that very thing today when I started creating this card. It took me back to my childhood in a small town with a Halloween parade of cute kids in cute costumes marching down Main Street. It ended with a hot dog roast. I don’t actually know how many people were there, but it certainly felt like the entire community to me when I was young. Life didn’t feel hard then. Probably because the adults in my life were doing all the HARD things so I could just live a peaceful life and have fun.Â
This stamp set made me think of those Halloween parade days of my childhood. Back in the time my momma would hand sew my Halloween costume and/or we would find something at the local thrift store to recreate. Back when Halloween was just about fun, dress up, and getting lots of candy I would then painstakingly sort into piles of like items. It always felt like a party and something to look forward to every year.
Halloween Parade Card
This card features a parade of trick or treaters down the center of the card. And then, it highlights two special costumed kids with bright colors that stand out on this black and white card. Were you ever Frankenstein or a fairy princess for Halloween?
What are your Halloween memories?
Life is HARD. When the world starts closing in on you and you just don’t think you can handle one more minute, take your memory back to a simpler time. Then, use that memory to create something in the here and now.

Adorable, Angel! I love these little silhouettes. What a parade of cuties! Your card, and narrative, did indeed take me back to a simpler time. When I was trick-or-treating 60 years ago, everyone knew their neighbors. It was a safe environment. I remember getting caramel apples and popcorn balls…and we never had to worry about the candy and other goodies we received. Oh, how times have changed. Thank you so much for sharing with The Paper Players this week!
Thanks Ann. I remember my mom working on popcorn balls all Halloween evening to give out to the trick or treaters. What a great memory!
Life is hard…that’s why I stamp! To escape for a while and make something fun! We lived out in the country, so our Halloween trick-or-treating was a little bit different, but next to Christmas it’s my favorite fun holiday! Your little people are as cute as can be! Thanks for playing with my Paper Players colors this week!
Thanks LeAnne. I agree stamping is definitely my therapy and break from the hard things in life.
