Video: Shades of Purple
This is always my favorite week of the month–the week I get to introduce my featured stamp set of the month. And, today, I not only get to introduce the featured stamp set for July. I get to use my favorite color while I’m creating. This card is made using shades of purple.
The Hues of Happiness Suite by Stampin’ Up! has such a variety of gorgeous happy colors to play with. It will be so much fun to experiment with all of them this month. In fact, I had created a monochrome card with the Coastal Cabana flowers earlier. You can find the link to that post right above the video below if you’re interested in checkint that out.
I had so much fun creating that card that I wanted to try it again. This time using a different color scheme. This time using shades of purple.
Choosing July’s Featured Stamp Set
Stamp sets featuring flowers are not typically my choice for featured stamp set of the month. In fact, I tend to be pretty particular when it comes to flowers.
When I first saw the Hues of Happiness Suite, I knew the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set would be one of my monthly featured stamps. I immediately fell in love with the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper. It not only has gorgeous floral images, some of the flowers are meant to be cut out with the coordinating dies. And some of the patterns are not floral at all. They are just gorgeous bands of different happy colors of the rainbow.
That amazing patterned paper couple with the font used on the sentiments in the stamp set, insured this would be one of my featured stamp sets.
Happiness Abounds Card in Shades of Purple
The Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper has flowers in both Fresh Freesia and Gorgeous Grape. So, that informed my choice of color for the paper, ink, and embellishments on this card.
Using those two colors for all of the cardstock, ink, embellishments, markers, and parts of the Designer Series Paper used for this card created just the right amount of diversity in texture and shade. This card may be monochromatic using shades of purple, but it is anything but boring.
