Fall Colors

Christmas is already showing up everywhere–in all the stores. And while I logically know I need to be working on handmade Christmas cards, I just hate the way we miss out on celebrating fall and Thanksgiving. So, I’ve been focused on fall colors lately.

What are fall colors? For me it is the rich vibrant colors that the leaves are turning on the trees. Or the colors available in fall mums, pumpkins, and squash. I consider a deep redish, variations of orange, yellow, brown, and deep green. Fall has always been my favorite season. The deep, rich colors evoke a sense of coziness to me. I consider the Regal and Neutral Stampin’ Up!® color families a good representation of fall colors.

What do you think of when you hear fall colors?

Card Details

Do you want to create a card with a color palette that evokes and feeling or memory? I want to help turn your crafting stress into success. Choose a patterned paper that evokes the feeling or memory you want to express. Then, make that the focal image of your card and choose the same colors of cardstock as the colors in the patterned paper.

I chose Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper for this card. It just says “fall” to me with the deep, rich colors used. This card was also created for the SUO Challenge 413: Color Challenge. This DSP fit the color challenge perfectly. So, choosing cardstock colors to match also met the requirements for the color challenge. The cardstock colors I chose to use were Golden Glow, Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, and Pecan Pie.

Want a card to feel more like fall? Use elements from nature found in the fall like colored leaves, pumpkins, acorns. And while giving thanks is a year-round activity, (or at least it should be) Thanksgiving is celebrated in the fall. A Thanksgiving card naturally has a feel of fall to it.
