Sheer Joy

When I look at this card and see the girl swinging in her tree with her head thrown back looking up at the sky, I can’t help but think of sheer joy. I imagine (perhaps remember) looking up into the blue sky finding shapes in the clouds, pumping my legs as hard as I can to fly as high as the swing will take me. I have no word for that experience other than joy. The wind rushing through my hair, the sun warming my face, and the feeling I could fly high enough to reach up and touch the clouds.

When I first saw the colors for this week’s Global Design Project, I couldn’t get the thought of a holiday card out of my head and I didn’t want to make another holiday card so I thought I wouldn’t play along this week. But, then I saw the sketch challenge for Inspire.Create Challenge and this card found it’s way into my imagination.

The tree is cut out using Early Espresso cardstock with a second tree die cut out in Shaded Spruce with the leaves then cut off and adhered to the Early Espresso tree. The card base is Cherry Cobbler and so is the stamped sentiment and the sponged sun. Holiday Rhinestones finished up the card.

Make sure you head over to Inspire.Create Challenge #059 and #GDP221 to see the inspiration cards by the design team and other creative entries.
