Slimline Mother’s Day Card

Am I the only one who’s entire calendar and schedule just seems a little messed up still? Somehow I just woke up and realized this week that Mother’s Day is less than a month away. There’s only about one month left in this school year/spring semester for my kiddos. I haven’t schedule an in person class for over a year. I haven’t travelled out of state in over a year. And, you would think all that extra time at home might leave me with a sparkling, organized house with all household chores done and lots of yummy food cooked and baked. WRONG!!!

I’m not sure what I’ve been doing for the past year, but it is certainly not organizing my house, cleaning, cooking, and baking. It has involved creating a lot of cards, but not as much getting them in the mail. Am I the only one with that problem? I think I have good ideas and good intentions, but I’m not so good at follow through.

But, the good news is although I just figured out Mother’s Day is less than a month away, I happen to already have all the Mother’s Day cards I need this year created. Now to remember to get them mailed on time. 🙂

I created this slimline card for the TGIF Challenge this week and also for the Tic Tac Toe challenge. As I was deciding which elements to use to make a tic tac toe, I decided to go ahead and use them all for a black out.

I have found my new favorite way to create an elegant background–stencils and the blending brush. It left a much softer, elegant look than I was expecting. I thought it was the perfect element to add to the fine art floral DSP. I think the entire card looks like a work of art. Of course, this Designer Series Paper doesn’t need much to accentuate it’s gorgeousness. Those hand painted roses look like I could just reach out and feel the texture. Well, I can’t, but I can feel the texture added with the ribbon and enamel dots.

What a perfect collection of fine art to celebrate someone any day of the year, but especially on Mother’s Day.
