Quilted Pocket Card

Do you love papercrafting? What about quilting? Why not combine those two passions and make a paper quilted pocket card?

I would describe myself as a paper crafter and card maker. I went to a quilt show with a friend earlier this summer and left with lots of inspiration. In fact, that is where I pulled inspiration for the quilt pattern on this card. You just never know when and where something will inspire you or what will be inspired.

More inspiration for this card came from the As You Like It Challenge: Floral or Gingham. I knew from the minute I saw the options, gingham would be my choice. This is not always a popular opinion, but I’m not a huge flower lover and don’t often purchase floral stamps or use them on my cards. That’s not exactly true. I do love flowers, but I’m pretty picky and specific about which flowers I like.

Gingham on the other hand. . .I LOVE gingham in all different colors and variations. As a child, I played with the Ginghams paper dolls all the time and had to have the newest ones as soon as they became available.

Did anyone else play with the Ginghams paper dolls?

Purple pocket card. Pocket holder has purple gingham paper and is decorated with a stamped sewing maching. Card that fits in the pocket has a quilt design created from triangles of gigham paper. Card front is embossed with gingham embossing folder. Sentiment says, "Life is better when you're crafting."

Card Details

Do you think paper quilting looks too challenging? Do you wonder how to make those triangles? I want to help turn your crafting stress into success. Check out the video to watch as a square turns into a triangle. It’s as simple as lining up opposite corners on your cutting track on your paper trimmer and slicing the square in half. Voila!!! You now have two perfects triangles to use in your paper quilt.

Pocket cards are so much fun. The pocket holder is a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock with a corner triangle made by cutting a 3 1/2″ cardstock triangle in half. The smaller card that fits in the pocket is a 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card folded in half to make 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card.
